Life’s Struggles and How I Faced Them
I overcame losing my health, my house, my career, a boyfriend, and several friends.
I had a brilliant career as a police officer and was working on my Master’s degree with the hopes of possibly working towards a job with the federal government. I purchased my first house when I was 22 years old and was always goal driven. My boyfriend was also a police officer, and we had been dating for several years. We had great friends and loved to entertain. You can probably tell where this is going obviously.

When I became ill things slowly began spiraling down. It affected my job, my personal life, and soon I couldn’t work. The process of going through disability is very difficult.

Losing it All
I had to move out of the house that I’d had for 11 years. I was heartbroken. There was no place for me to go, so I had to stay with friends since I had no income. My career was gone as well as my health and my house……and then my boyfriend of six years came to the house I was staying at to break up with me. I even lost friends in the process. Some I had for years, but it’s difficult to understand the actions of someone who has lost everything unless you’ve been there.
